Evangelist & Mrs H. L. Beans, Pastor Friendly Wayside COGIC

EVANGELIST PASTOR H. L. BEANS

In 1966 God saved H. L. Beans and brought him off the streets of Dallas , from a life of crime and drugs. He became a member of Baldwin Chapel Church of God in Christ, where Elder J. B. Baldwin is Pastor. He sang in the choir and later in a gospel group and played drums and guitar. One day he became ill and later hospitalized where he discovered he had sickle cell anemia. But, a merciful God healed his body of that disease. Shortly afterwards he was called into the ministry.

In time he desired a wife and through prayer God blessed him to meet and later marry Sister Lorene Taylor. She works faithfully by his side and God uses them for His glory.

Evangelist Beans evangelized and preached the Gospel throughout Texas, Oklahoma and the surrounding areas, and God added souls to the kingdom.

In 1975 Evangelist Beans began a mission in Dallas, Texas with eight families. They had church services in the homes of the Saints, until God blessed the congregation with a building in 1976. Elder Beans named the church Rejoicing Tabernacle COGIC taken from Psalms 118:15. He served faithfully as pastor until 1985 when the Spirit led him into the evangelist field full time, whereas God called him off his job and promised to supply his every need.

Later his gifts and talents were recognized by Bishop F. W. Smith, who asked him to serve as the Evangelist President of Texas Northeast 3rd Jurisdiction where he served from 1990 to 1994. After resigning from the position, he returned to Texas Northeast Proper under Bishop J. N. Haynes.

In April of 1996, Elder Beans was sent by Bishop Haynes to conduct a revival in Paris, Texas at the Overcomers COGIC where the Late Bishop T. L. Young once pastored and where Elder Beans was subsequently appointed as pastor.

In December 2003, Pastor Aaron Waldon went home to be with the Lord after 23 years of dedicated service.  In December 2003, Bishop Haynes appointed our new Pastor, Evangelist H. L. Beans.  He, along with his Beautiful wife Lorene, is continuing the work of the Lord.  New members have been added which include 5 musicians, 5 deacons and 5 ministers.  We are continuing to improve the facility with the likes of an upgraded sound system,a new drum set, a new water fountain and an expanded parking lot - all without any added debt.  It is anticipated that within the next year or two we will need a new building.

Evangelist and Sister Lorene Beans have 3 adult children: Tyrone, Derek and LaShun.
